Summer reception in the East Cloister
There are few places more recognisable in London than Westminster Abbey. An architectural masterpiece, it represents a unique pageant of British history as it is the place of the coronation, marriage and burial of British monarchs since 1066. It could not have been a more perfect summer evening, with the sun’s rays still filtering through on to the cool stone of the abbey’s East Cloister. The setting in this ancient abbey was perfect for the wine and canapé reception that was enjoyed by the guests of the leader of Westminster Council. This year’s summer reception was extremely well attended and Mackintosh’s was very pleased to have been asked to cater the event for a second year. Every year the leader of the council invites members and senior employees of Westminster Council to enjoy an evening of canapés, drinks and informal socialising.
A stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of one of London’s busiest junction, the East Cloister was a place of serenity and calm. One could almost forget where they were as the wine started flowing and canapés such as:
Seared fennel crusted salmon, miniature open steak sandwich, and sweet roasted pepper muffins with caramelised onion, goat’s cheese mousse and black olive tapenade.
The guests were invited to visit The 2020 Vision exhibition, which had opened to the public at the Abbey’s Chapter House only a few days before. The exhibition outlines the Abbey’s exciting plans of renovation and revitalization. The evening was a great success and we all look forward to working in this beautiful venue again.
